Stichting Kielegat announced the motto on 17 February 2026. The 2027 annual emblem is not known yet.
The season opens on 11-11
On 11 November 2026 Kielegat opens the season on the Grote Markt, with Elluf Elluf. The programme starts at 13:11.

Questions about carnival in Kielegat
Does the parade in Breda go ahead?
Yes, the 2027 Grote Optocht goes ahead on Monday 8 February (Stichting Kielegat, BN DeStem, 1 October 2026). 2028 is uncertain: from 2027 the municipality raises the permit fees for big events and Stichting Kielegat says it cannot pay them. The council votes on the budget on 12 November 2026; a coalition amendment wants to freeze the fees in 2027.
What do I wear in Kielegat?
Anything goes. Red and orange are appreciated; Kielegat also sells hats, scarves and pins.
Where can I watch the parade?
Omroep Brabant showed the 2026 parade the day after as a recording and put the replay on Brabant+. Nothing has been announced for 2027 yet.
