Every Friday from 10:00 to 13:00 on the Waagplein, from the last Friday in March to the last Friday in September. In July and August there is also a market every Tuesday evening, from 19:00 to 21:00. In 2027 the season is 26 March to 24 September.

Alkmaars Ontzet is on 8 October, the day of the relief of the city in 1573, with a parade and festivities on the Waagplein. In 2027 that is a Friday.
When does Sinterklaas arrive in Alkmaar?
Sinterklaas arrives by boat on Saturday 14 November 2026 and moors at the Ringersplein around 13:20. The parade through the centre starts at 14:00.
Is there a Christmas market in Alkmaar?
No big Christmas market in the centre, but Prachtkerst turns the whole centre into a Christmas day on Saturday 19 December 2026, with live music, children's activities and a big sing-along. There is an ice rink on the Waagplein from 27 November to 3 January, the Winterfair is on 28 November and the cheese Christmas tree is lit on 11 December.
When is the kermis in Alkmaar?
The 2026 kermis ran from 21 to 30 August in the centre. The dates of 2027 are not announced yet.
