About
On a train to Berlin, twelve-year-old Emil is robbed by Max Grundeis, and with a group of children he sets out to catch the thief.
Emil Tischbein (Nicholas Jonah Peter) is twelve and lives with his mother in Bernburg, where money is tight. His old Nokia phone makes him feel at a disadvantage among his friends, who make joining their group depend on a dare. He is to stay with his grandmother in Berlin over the summer holidays, and his mother puts him on the train alone with money for her. On the journey, the confidence trickster Max Grundeis (Merlin Sandmeyer) steals the money. Emil goes after him in Berlin. Pony (Lara Toni Lüdders), Gustav (Kilian Kasa), Dienstag (Bela Louis Plass), Anh (Ai Vy Bui) and Jason (Camille Moltzen) join the search, which turns into detective work across present-day Berlin.
