About this workshop
Needlebinding (Nålbindning) is thousands of years old and was used to make textiles with needle and thread, including socks, hats and gloves, before knitting and crochet.
The Wednesday morning workshop practises the Oslo stitch and some variants of it, and is led by Dorothee Olthof, an expert in archaeological textiles and the reconstruction of medieval and later clothing.
The workshop takes place at Textile Research Centre, Boerhaavelaan 6, 2334 EN Leiden, on Wednesday 9 December 2026 from 10:00 to 13:00.
