How many people fit in Verkadefabriek?
Verkadefabriek does not publish a capacity for the whole building: it has two theatre halls, five film halls, a club hall and a café-restaurant that seats 120. Each hall's capacity depends on its layout, so the number differs by room and by show.
- Café-restaurant
- 120 seats
- Theatre halls
- 2 (Grote Zaal, Kleine Zaal)
- Film halls
- 5 (hall named on your ticket)
- Club hall
- 1 (Clubzaal)

- Not published
The two theatre halls are the Grote Zaal and the Kleine Zaal. The five film halls are the cinema rooms of the building; your ticket names the hall. The Clubzaal is a separate room for club programming and events. The café-restaurant seats 120 people.
For comparison, three large sports venues around Den Bosch are much bigger: De Vliert holds 9,000, the Mandemakers Stadion 7,500 and Maaspoort 3,500. Those are capacities of other buildings, not rooms in Verkadefabriek; they show the scale of the city's larger venues rather than a like-for-like theatre comparison.
The annual volume is about 400 performances and 6,000 film screenings, with more than 210,000 visitors in 2019.
| Venue | Capacity | Distance from Verkadefabriek |
|---|---|---|
| Verkadefabriek | No building total; café-restaurant 120 | At the venue |

Which hall is your film or show in?
Your ticket names the hall: theatre and dance use the Grote Zaal or Kleine Zaal, films use one of the five film halls, and club programming uses the Clubzaal. The Grote Zaal has a flat floor plus a retractable tribune; the Kleine Zaal is a flat-floor room.

Verkadefabriek is a flat-floor theatre. In the Kleine Zaal and on the floor of the Grote Zaal you sit close to the stage and the rows do not rise. In the Grote Zaal the tribune can be pulled out to add raised seating; the technical drawings show the room with the tribune in and out. If you want an overview, choose the tribune; if you want to be close, choose the floor.
The five film halls are air-conditioned. The film page names the hall, so check it before booking if you want a particular room. Wheelchair places in the theatre and film halls can be booked by phone on 073 681 81 60; a companion can sit next to you.
The Grote Zaal and Kleine Zaal are also rented out for conferences and events, so the layout can differ from a theatre evening.
Eating and drinking at Verkadefabriek
The café-restaurant opens every day at 11:00 for coffee, sandwiches and an early drink, and dinner can be booked at 17:00 or 19:00. The kitchen uses seasonal, local ingredients and caters for vegetarian, vegan and allergy diets.
The menu changes with the seasons and uses organic produce where possible, with a balance of fish, meat and vegetarian dishes. Vegan dishes are available. If you have an allergy or intolerance, tell the team when you book and the kitchen will make a meal to fit.
Before a film, the Food & Film arrangement combines two courses with a film ticket for €24.50 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. If the film runs longer than two hours, the price is €25.50. On Sunday morning, Filmontbijt is breakfast and a film for €15.50.
You can eat without a ticket, and the café is also the place to wait before a show. Outside food and drink are not allowed in the building; drinks bought in the café may be taken into the film halls, but not into the theatre halls.

How do I get to Verkadefabriek from Den Bosch station?
Verkadefabriek is a 10-minute walk from 's-Hertogenbosch station, about 870 m; the measured route takes 12 minutes. Buses from the station stop at Orthenstraat and Orthenseweg, both a 10-minute walk from the venue.
The building is on the Boschdijkstraat, on the edge of the city centre. The venue's own estimate is 10 minutes from the station; the OpenStreetMap route is 870 m and 12 minutes.
By bus, lines 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 and 9 stop at Orthenstraat; lines 7, 10, 90, 158, 165, 166, 665 and 690 stop at Orthenseweg. Both stops are 730 m, about 10 minutes, from the entrance. From the station, take any of these lines; the ride is short and the walk from the stop is the same.
By bike, there are racks in front of the venue and at P1 behind it. By car, use P1, P2 or P3 (see the parking section). The venue is inside the zero-emission zone that applies in central Den Bosch from 1 March 2025, so check your vehicle before driving in.
If a show ends late, check the last bus or train with the operator before you book. The 870 m walk to the station, about 12 minutes, is the option that does not depend on a timetable; a taxi is the fallback.
Parking at Verkadefabriek: P1, P2 and P3
Verkadefabriek has three car parks around the building: P1 behind it, P2 at the Tramkade and P3 at the Veemarktweg. Parking costs €2.55 per hour, or €0.85 per 20 minutes, 24 hours a day.
P1 is behind the building, P2 at the Tramkade and P3 at the Veemarktweg. You can take a ticket or pay contactless with your bank card at the barrier. The first 20 minutes are free if you are dropping someone off or picking them up; drive in and out with your entry ticket at no cost.
P1 has charging points for electric cars at €0.66 per kWh plus transaction costs, and two disabled spaces near the entrance. Frequent visitors with a disabled parking card get a discount on parking; ask at the box office or reception.
At busy times the three car parks can fill up. Parking in the surrounding streets is very limited and strictly enforced, so arrive early or come by public transport. The station is an 870 m walk (about 12 minutes), and the buses in the getting-there section stop 730 m away.

What is Verkadefabriek?
Verkadefabriek is 's-Hertogenbosch's film and theatre house in the former Verkade biscuit factory on the Boschdijkstraat, with two theatre halls, five film halls, a club hall and a café-restaurant that opens daily at 11:00.
The programme mixes arthouse and mainstream film with theatre, cabaret, dance, music and children's shows. The building also has a shop and rehearsal rooms, and six theatre and dance companies are based here.
For a visit, the address is the same for everything: films screen in one of the five film halls, theatre and dance in the Grote Zaal or Kleine Zaal, and club programming in the Clubzaal. Your ticket names the hall.
The café-restaurant is the public living room: lunch, dinner before a show, or a drink after a film. It is open every day from 11:00, and you do not need a ticket to eat there.

From Verkade biscuit factory to cultural centre
Verkadefabriek opened on 28 September 2004 in the former Verkade biscuit factory, a building from 1929 that made Verkade biscuits until production moved to Zaandam in 1993.
The factory stood empty for years. In 2001 ZT Hollandia performed Varkens/Boeren there, and in 2002 the city council decided to convert the building into a centre for theatre, film and hospitality. Architect Hubert-Jan Henket kept the industrial shell: the shed roofs still bring daylight into the building, and eighteen thousand old yellow floor tiles from the dispatch hall were cleaned and relaid in the café-restaurant.
The complex opened in 2004 with two theatre halls, five film halls and a club hall. In 2019 it received more than 210,000 visitors; in 2023 the figure was more than 230,000. The annual programme runs to about 400 performances and 6,000 film screenings.
Six companies are house companies: Minoux, Panama Pictures, Theater Artemis, Matzer Theaterproducties, Lucas de Man and Paleis voor Volksvlijt.
