How many people fit in Paradox?
Paradox holds 175 visitors: 125 seats and 50 standing places, depending on the concert.
The 175 figure is the whole room, not a fixed layout. The venue gives 125 seats and 50 standing places, and the balance between them follows the programme.
Size is part of the appeal. 013, the pop venue 0.4 km away, holds 3,000 people; the Koning Willem II Stadion, 2.2 km away, holds 14,637. At 175, Paradox is the scale of a club, not a hall.

Seating at Paradox: 125 chairs in one intimate room
Paradox is built around seated listening: 125 chairs and 50 standing places in one room, in front of an 8-metre-wide stage.
There is one concert room. It holds 175 people: 125 chairs and 50 standing places, with a stage of 8 by 3 metres and a Steinway B grand piano.
The venue publishes no numbered seat map. For a seated concert the 125 chairs are set out in front of the stage; because the room caps at 175 people, even the back row stays close to the band.
Which seats to choose: aim for the front or the middle of the seated block if you want the closest view of the piano and the drummer. The 50 standing places suit anyone who would rather move.
Tickets for Paradox: prices, passes and booking
Book online or at the box office unless the concert is sold out; regular tickets are usually €15 to €20, and the weekly Tuesday jazz session and the regular Club PARA nights are free.
Tickets are sold online through the venue's ticket link or at the box office if a concert has not sold out. You get an e-ticket by email, and the venue warns that it can land in spam. A pass alone is not enough at the door: the barcode is scanned at the entrance.
Prices in the current programme run from €15 to €20. Some concerts are free, including the weekly Tuesday jazz session, the regular Club PARA nights on Mondays and a number of presentations and opening concerts.
A ParaCard costs €275 for a year of unlimited access to more than 125 paid concerts. A ParaPas costs €12.50 and gives €2 to €5 off each concert. Students at Fontys Academy of the Arts pay €5 for non-sold-out concerts, and the venue also accepts We Are Public, Podiumpas, Meedoenregeling and QUIET.
Getting to Paradox: train, bus and walking times
Tilburg station is 670 m from Paradox, a 9-minute walk; buses 1, 2, 7 and 8 also stop at Heuvelring, 5 minutes away.
Tilburg station is the city's main station. From there the walk goes through the city centre to Telegraafstraat, on the corner with Willem II-straat; allow 9 minutes for the 670 m.
If you prefer the bus, lines 1, 2, 7 and 8 stop at Heuvelring (310 m, 5 min) and Piusplein (630 m, 9 min). Lines 6, 9, 140, 141, 142, 143, 847 and 848 stop at Interpolis, 580 m, 8 minutes away.
For the train or bus home after the typical 22:30 end, head to Tilburg station or the stops at Heuvelring, Piusplein or Interpolis. Check the current NS and Bravo departure immediately before leaving, because late-night schedules vary.
The Pieter Vreedeplein garage is a 3-minute walk from the door; the other garages are in the parking section.
Parking at Paradox: garages, rates and walking times
The nearest garage is Pieter Vreedeplein, 160 m and a 3-minute walk; drive in after 18:00 and you pay €6 until the garage closes.
Pieter Vreedeplein is the one to aim for: 160 m from the door, 660 spaces, a 1.90 m height limit and 8 disabled spaces. The venue's €6 arrangement applies if you enter after 18:00 and leave before the garage closes at 04:30.
013-Tivoli is the cheapest for a long evening: 500 m, 7 minutes, €2.20 an hour on weekdays and a €10 day maximum. Emmapassage and Koningsplein cost the same as Pieter Vreedeplein but are 7 and 10 minutes away.
For a 20:30 concert, arriving after 18:00 at Pieter Vreedeplein usually means the €6 rate; if you arrive earlier, the normal hourly rate applies.

What kind of venue is Paradox?
Paradox is Tilburg's jazz club: a 175-person hall where the programming runs from modern jazz to funk, hiphop, world music, blues and classical, with a free Club PARA night on Mondays.
The venue calls itself the leading jazz stage of the southern Netherlands. Its programme mixes national and international headliners with new discoveries, and the musical range is wider than the word jazz suggests: modern creative and straight-ahead sets sit beside free jazz, funk, world music, blues and classical projects.
The room is deliberately intimate. Paradox holds 175 visitors, 125 of them seated, in front of a stage of 8 by 3 metres with a Steinway B grand piano. That makes it the opposite of a stadium show: the audience is close to the band.
Paradox has been at Telegraafstraat 62 since 1985 and is run by about 65 volunteers. It also has music studios and a production house, a weekly open jazz session on Tuesdays and Club PARA: free Monday nights in a living-room setting, with vinyl, drinks and live jazz aimed at a younger audience.
The PaRaDoX Orchestra, one of the most prominent Dutch big bands of the moment, is based here.

Paradox since 1985: a Tilburg jazz story
Paradox opened at Telegraafstraat 62 in 1985, after its predecessor Paradoks closed in 1984; a 1998 renovation moved the entrance to Telegraafstraat.
The story starts with the café Paradoks on the corner of Karrestraat and Willem II-straat, which began in 1981 but was limited by noise nuisance. The last concert there was on 27 September 1984.
A new home was found on the corner of Willem II-straat and Telegraafstraat, and a group of Tilburg jazz musicians founded the new Paradox in 1985. The 1998 renovation moved the front door to Telegraafstraat, where it still is.
Paradox is a non-profit foundation, with subsidy from the municipality of Tilburg and the Fonds Podiumkunsten. Around 65 volunteers keep it running, and the venue also has music studios and a production house; the PaRaDoX Orchestra is one of the most prominent big bands in the Netherlands today.
