Capacity

How many people fit in Het Posttheater?

The Grote Zaal seats up to 285 people and the Kleine Zaal up to 80; both are flexible rooms with a retractable stand rather than a fixed balcony.

Grote Zaal
148–285 seats
Kleine Zaal
max. 80 seats
Bovenzaal
No lift, not wheelchair accessible

The Grote Zaal has a flat floor and a telescopic stand. With the stand half out there are 148 seats, fully out 285; the standard stage layout seats 250. The room can also be converted into a dance floor or a dinner layout.

The Kleine Zaal has a retractable stand and at most 80 seats. Its stage is 6 metres wide (without wings), 6 metres deep and 4 metres high, with a 4.8 by 3.6 metre screen.

That makes Het Posttheater a small-house theatre. For scale: the Parkzaal of Musis & Stadstheater in Arnhem seats 850 to 1016 and its Muzenzaal up to 750, so Het Posttheater is the intimate option in the city.

Seating plan

Seating plan: where to sit in the Grote and Kleine Zaal

Both halls use a telescopic stand, which raises the rows behind the flat floor; the Grote Zaal seats 148 to 285 and the Kleine Zaal at most 80.

  4. Bovenzaal

    No lift

In the Grote Zaal the stand rises from the flat floor. The standard stage layout has 250 seats; with the stand half extended there are 148, fully extended 285. The wheelchair places are on the first row.

The Kleine Zaal is the more intimate room: a retractable stand for at most 80 people, a stage 6 metres wide and 6 metres deep, and a 4.8 by 3.6 metre screen.

Because both halls are small, the front rows are close to the performer and the back rows still have a direct line of sight. There are two wheelchair places per performance, on the first row; book them by phone or e-mail because they are allocated in order of request. The Bovenzaal is up a staircase and has no lift.

Questions

Frequently asked questions about Het Posttheater

The questions visitors ask most, from start times and parking to wheelchairs and ticket changes.

What time do shows start?

Evening shows in the Grote Zaal start at 20:30 and in the Kleine Zaal at 20:00. The theatre opens at 19:00 and the hall doors about 15 minutes before the start. Matinees vary, so check the listing for the exact start time.

How many people fit in the theatre?

The Grote Zaal seats 148 to 285 people depending on the stand; the Kleine Zaal seats at most 80. The Bovenzaal is a rehearsal and presentation room, not a public auditorium.

Do I need to print my ticket?

No. The barcode can be scanned from your phone, and printing is optional. If you cannot download the e-ticket, collect it at the box office before the show; the box office is open from 19:30 to 20:15 on performance evenings.

Where can I park?

Free on the theatre's own site at Rosendaalsestraat 27 (about 30 spaces; the gate closes an hour after the show) or on the Dirkzwager deck at Velperweg 1. The paid Parkeergarage Velperpoort is three minutes' walk and costs €2.50 per hour.

How do I get there by public transport?

Arnhem Velperpoort station is a four-minute walk (280 m). From Arnhem Centraal, take bus 26, 27, 29, 127, 302, 303, 406, 608 or 801 to Station Velperpoort, or bus 13 to Oogststraat; the walk from those stops is three to five minutes.

Is the theatre wheelchair accessible?

Yes. There are two wheelchair places per performance on the first row, an accessible toilet on the ground floor and a hearing loop. Book by phone or e-mail; places are allocated in order of request. The Bovenzaal has no lift and is not accessible.

Can I eat at the theatre?

The theatre serves drinks on show nights rather than dinner; your ticket includes a drink in the interval or after the show. The foyer has a bar and bistro tables. For dinner, Eetwinkel STROOM, Caspar, Goed Proeven and De Blauwe Hoek are within walking distance.

Can I pay by credit card?

No. The foyer and box office accept pin only; credit cards are not accepted.

Can I change or cancel my ticket?

Tickets cannot be returned. You can exchange to another performance in the same season up to two working days before the start for €3 per order, or take a voucher for the amount minus booking costs; the voucher is valid for two years.

What are the house rules?

The building is smoke-free, phones must be off in the hall, photography and filming are forbidden, and drinks may not be taken into the auditorium. Latecomers are not always admitted.

When is the box office open?

On performance evenings the box office is open from 19:30 to 20:15. At other times tickets are sold online, 24 hours a day; the office phone is answered on Tuesday and Thursday from 13:00 to 16:00.

Can I bring a scootmobiel?

A scootmobiel cannot be taken into the hall, but staff can park it safely after consultation. Ask at the box office or e-mail [email protected] before your visit.
