About

A poor boy hopes to find one of five Golden Tickets that allow entry to Willy Wonka's mysterious chocolate factory.

Charlie Bucket (Peter Ostrum) is a twelve-year-old paperboy from a poor family whose town is home to Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. A tinker tells Charlie that nobody ever enters or leaves the building. Charlie's Grandpa Joe (Jack Albertson) explains that Wonka closed the factory after rival confectioners spied on him; production later resumed, but the gates stayed shut and the identities of the workers were unknown.

Then Willy Wonka (Gene Wilder) announces that five Golden Tickets are hidden in his chocolate bars. The children who find them will be shown around the factory and supplied with chocolate for life. Four tickets go to Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde and Mike Teevee, while a mysterious man speaks to each child. Charlie hopes to find one.
