Alice, a forty-year-old mother played by Myriem Akheddiou, stands before a judge. Her custody of her children is being called into question, and she must speak up for them. At the hearing she tries to make their fears heard and to protect them from their father, played by Laurent Capelluto. Natali Broods appears as the judge. The Belgian drama, directed by Arnaud Dufeys and Charlotte Devillers in their first feature, follows Alice as she faces a justice system that scrutinizes her instead of the children’s father, and looks at the challenges women encounter and how the legal system deals with family and domestic violence.
