Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story is a musical comedy and a parody of the music biopic. John C. Reilly plays Dewey Cox, with Jenna Fischer as Darlene Madison, Kristen Wiig as Edith, Raymond J. Barry as Pa Cox and Harold Ramis as L'Chaim. The film begins in Springberry, Alabama, in 1946, where a childhood tragedy leaves young Dewey without his sense of smell. He meets a blues guitarist who discovers his natural affinity for playing the blues. In 1953, Dewey performs "Take My Hand" at a school talent show and his father, Pa Cox (Raymond J. Barry), kicks him out of the house. Dewey leaves Springberry with his girlfriend Edith (Kristen Wiig); they marry and have a baby. Working at an all-African American nightclub, he replaces singer Bobby Shad and impresses record executive L'Chaim (Harold Ramis).
