About
A 16-year-old aspiring model moves to Los Angeles, where her youth and beauty draw fascination and envy in the fashion world.
Jesse, a 16-year-old aspiring model played by Elle Fanning, moves from a small town in Georgia to Los Angeles. At her first shoot she meets photographer Dean (Karl Glusman), and makeup artist Ruby (Jena Malone) introduces her to the older models Gigi (Bella Heathcote) and Sarah (Abbey Lee). Jesse signs with Roberta Hoffmann (Christina Hendricks), who runs a modeling agency and tells her to say she is nineteen, and is sent for a test shoot with photographer Jack McCarther (Desmond Harrington). Dean shows interest in Jesse beyond her appearance. Back at her motel, she finds her room ravaged by a cougar; Hank (Keanu Reeves), the motel owner, makes her pay for the damage, and Dean covers it.
