About
In a small Texas town in 1951, two high school best friends navigate girls, an affair and uncertain futures as graduation nears.
In the small Texas town of Anarene in 1951, high school seniors and best friends Sonny Crawford (Timothy Bottoms) and Duane Jackson (Jeff Bridges) spend their time at the pool hall, café and cinema owned by Sam the Lion (Ben Johnson). Duane dates Jacy Farrow (Cybill Shepherd), the town's most popular girl, whose wealthy parents disapprove of his roughneck life. Sonny breaks up with his girlfriend Charlene because he has a secret crush on Jacy. At a Christmas dance, Sonny kisses Ruth Popper (Cloris Leachman), the depressed wife of his coach, and later begins an affair with her. As graduation approaches, both friends wonder what comes next in a town that offers little.
