About

A tennis club's proposal for a separate grill for its only Muslim member Erol sparks a debate about social and personal conflicts.

The Holy Grill is set in the small German town of Lengenheide, where the local tennis club holds its members' meeting. Chairman Heribert Bräsemann (Hape Kerkeling) presents the members with decisions about the playing kit and the new clubhouse, and the vote on buying a new grill is meant to be kept short. Melanie Pfaff (Anja Knauer), who recently won the district doubles title with Erol Oturan (Fahri Yardım), opens a discussion about whether their Muslim clubmate Erol should have a separate grill. Erol does not want this, but points out that the sucuk his family eats at club celebrations must indeed be grilled separately under Muslim dietary rules. What begins as a simple discussion turns into a debate about social and personal conflicts. The cast also includes Christoph Maria Herbst, Friedrich Mücke, Gaby Dohm, Milan Peschel and Katrin Röver.
