Salomé studies decades of family videos to understand her mother’s sadness and uncovers a past shaped by violence and exploitation in Colombia.

In The End of Times, Salomé looks back at decades of family videos. The footage includes costumed parties celebrating the end of the previous millennium, and in the revellers she recognises relatives from her Colombian family. Through narration she asks whether such old recordings can reveal something about the state of a country. She examines the images in repeating, altered, accelerated and slowed-down sequences, testing different hypotheses as she tries to understand her mother's sadness. The film is directed by Bibiana Rojas Gómez and Juan David Cardenas and uses archive material, including selective use of artificial intelligence, to imagine a possible future. It features María Inés Toro, Gerardo Cárdenas and Gustavo Hernán Idárraga.
