About
In the Bulgarian border region, an archaeologist reunites with an old acquaintance and is drawn into his dangerous fuel-smuggling plan.
Valeska Grisebach's drama is set in the border region between Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey. Veska, an archaeologist played by Yana Radeva, has returned to her hometown of Svilengrad for an excavation. There she runs into Saïd (Syuleyman Alilov Letifo), an old acquaintance from the Rhodopes whose murky business has brought him to town. After his car is stolen, she invites him to spend the day at the dig. Saïd is hoping to arrange a fuel-smuggling deal across the border, a plan that brings him into contact with Iliya (Stoicho Kostadinov), the local kingpin. Veska is drawn into helping him, and the situation places her in danger while confronting her with her own memories and desires.
