About
A woman follows a lawyer to a California coastal town, where sudden, unexplained bird attacks begin.
In a San Francisco pet shop, Melanie Daniels (Tippi Hedren) meets lawyer Mitch Brenner (Rod Taylor), who is looking for lovebirds as a birthday present for his sister Cathy (Veronica Cartwright). Mitch recognises Melanie from a court appearance and pretends to take her for a shop assistant. Intrigued, Melanie buys the birds and travels to Bodega Bay, where Mitch stays with his mother Lydia (Jessica Tandy) and Cathy. From teacher Annie Hayworth (Suzanne Pleshette) she learns about the family; Annie is Mitch's former lover. Melanie rents a boat to leave the lovebirds at the Brenner farm without being seen. As she heads back, a gull attacks her. Around the town, birds begin to strike people in sudden, unexplained attacks.
