About

A Mexican documentary follows an airport employee imprisoned after being accused of human trafficking and a circus clown searching for her missing daughter.

Tempestad is a 2016 Mexican documentary directed by Tatiana Huezo. The film follows two women and moves between their stories. Miriam Carbajal works at Cancún International Airport. She is unjustly accused of human trafficking and imprisoned in a prison in northern Mexico that is controlled by a cartel. Adela Alvarado is a circus clown who has spent a decade searching for Mónica, her disappeared daughter. Through images that travel from north to south Mexico, the two testimonies come together in a country where violence has taken control of people's lives, desires and dreams.
