About
In the Russian Empire, young aristocrat Antonina Milyukova becomes obsessed with marrying composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, who agrees to a marriage of convenience.
Set in the Russian Empire in the second half of the 19th century, Tchaikovsky's Wife centres on Antonina Milyukova, played by Alyona Mikhaylova. Born into the aristocracy, she falls in love with the composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, played by Odin Lund Biron, from the moment she hears his music. Her one obsession is to marry him. Tchaikovsky agrees to the union, a marriage of convenience; by then he is troubled by rumours about his homosexuality and by financial problems. Kirill Serebrennikov wrote and directed the film, which follows the marriage between the young, naive Antonina and the noted composer.
