Stop Making Sense is a 1984 American concert film directed by Jonathan Demme, built around a live performance by Talking Heads. It was shot over four nights in December 1983 at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood while the band was touring its album Speaking in Tongues. David Byrne, Chris Frantz, Jerry Harrison and Tina Weymouth appear as themselves. Byrne begins on a bare stage with a cassette player and an acoustic guitar for Psycho Killer. Song by song he is joined by Weymouth, Frantz and Harrison. Backing vocalists Lynn Mabry and Ednah Holt, percussionist Steven Scales and guitarist Alex Weir are also added, along with more equipment and instruments.
