About

In a frozen future, the survivors of Earth live aboard a class-divided train, where tail passengers plot a revolt.

Set in 2031, Snowpiercer is based on the graphic novel Le Transperceneige. Seventeen years earlier, an attempt to stop global warming with the compound CW-7 backfired and brought on a new ice age, destroying almost all life on Earth. The survivors live aboard the Snowpiercer, a self-sustaining train that circles the planet, driven by a perpetual-motion engine and run by reclusive magnate Wilford (Ed Harris). Passengers are divided by a strict class system: the elite in the front cars, the poor crammed into guarded tail compartments. In the tail, Curtis Everett (Chris Evans) is urged by his mentor Gilliam (John Hurt) to lead a revolt, with second-in-command Edgar (Jamie Bell). They free captive security specialist Namgoong Minsoo (Song Kang-ho), who agrees to help in exchange for Kronole, a drug made from industrial waste.
