About
Alexandru Solomon follows Romania's chaotic 2024–2025 election campaign, in which Nicusor Dan and George Simion face each other and social media shape the political battle.
Small Expectations is a documentary by Alexandru Solomon, who also supplies the voice-over. It follows Romania during the turbulent election cycle of 2024–2025, when Bucharest's independent mayor Nicusor Dan and far-right politician George Simion become central figures in a campaign whose rules are no longer clear. Solomon observes how social media shapes the political debate and how a cultural struggle divides the country. Calin Georgescu, an ultranationalist who emerges during the race, also enters the story. The film presents a campaign that pushes Romania to the brink, with social platforms fueling the intensity.
