In Tokyo, a poor family that survives by shoplifting takes in a neglected girl they find outside, and she becomes part of the household.
In Tokyo, Osamu Shibata (Lily Franky) and his family live in poverty. Osamu is a day labourer who left his job after twisting his ankle; his wife Nobuyo (Sakura Ando) works at an industrial laundry. Hatsue (Kirin Kiki), an elderly woman, owns the home and supports them with her deceased husband's pension. Aki (Mayu Matsuoka) works at a JK peep shop, and Shota (Kairi Jo) is a young boy. Osamu and Shota routinely shoplift, using hand signals. One cold night they see Yuri (Miyu Sasaki), a neighbourhood girl often locked out on an apartment balcony, and bring her home. They intend only to give her dinner, but after finding evidence of abuse, they decide not to return her. Nobuyo initially hesitates, then gives in. Yuri bonds with the family and learns to shoplift.
