About
A burnt-out Montreal advertising writer leaves for Provence to become a shepherd, despite having no experience, and finds work with a struggling farmer.
Mathyas (Félix-Antoine Duval) works in advertising in Montreal. Burnt out and unhappy with his old life, he leaves Canada for Provence, where he wants to become a shepherd. He has no experience and little money, and the local farmers are sceptical of his ideas about rural life. His first attempt ends when a farmer decides he is too inexperienced to train. Mathyas also learns that he cannot legally work in France without a permit. He finds work with Gérard Tellier (Bruno Raffaelli), a sheep farmer in difficulty, and with Ahmed (Michel Benizri), a shepherd from Morocco who shows him the job. Élise (Solène Rigot), a civil servant who helped him with his visa, is attracted by his stories and joins him.
