About
Freddy, a day labourer, leaves Germany for a Costa Brava resort in summer 1996, where his friend Johannes finds him work with disco owner Herbert.
Summer 1996. Freddy, an eternally youthful day labourer played by August Diehl, is tired of his life in Germany and wants to start a new life in a holiday resort on the Costa Brava. His old friend Johannes (Thomas Schubert), who runs a car rental there, gets him a job with Herbert (Josef Hader), a disco owner known for taking in people who have drifted. There, Freddy at first believes he is in paradise. Before the first season is over, he becomes the centre of the local drop-out community.
