About
A documentary on Odisha's coast, where rising seas and erosion threaten seven villages and an older generation remains with memories of the past.
Rivers of Memory is a documentary by Shishir Jha set on the coast of Odisha, India. There, seven villages that once formed a lively community are slowly being lost as the sea rises.
Land that was once fertile is turning into barren plains, while drought, coastal erosion and destruction reshape the area. Families once lived from the river and from what nature provided; now failed harvests and corruption weigh on the people who stay. Those who remain are largely older people, with recollections of earlier times. Pitobash provides the voice of the narrator.
