About
Biographical gangster drama about Iranian-Kurdish rapper Giwar Hajabi, known as Xatar, who comes to Germany as a child.
Rhinegold is a biographical gangster drama by Fatih Akin about the Iranian-Kurdish rapper and music producer Giwar Hajabi, known as Xatar. Born in Iran to Kurdish parents, Giwar flees with his family via Iraq to Germany in the mid-1980s and grows up in poor conditions in a social housing estate in Bonn. His parents are musicians and insist that he learn piano. Emilio Sakraya plays the adult Giwar; Mona Pirzad and Kardo Razzazi appear as Rasal Hajabi and Ali Brecher. Giwar drifts into petty crime, from copying porn films onto VHS cassettes to selling drugs, and after being beaten by several youths he takes up strength and combat training, earning the nickname Xatar.
