About
Filmmaker Mohanad Yaqubi answers an unfinished collaboration request from Lebanese filmmaker Jocelyne Saab by engaging with her archive films.
Revolutionaries Never Die is an archive-based documentary by Mohanad Yaqubi. It begins with an invitation: not long before Lebanese journalist and filmmaker Jocelyne Saab died in 2019, she asked Palestinian filmmaker and producer Yaqubi to work with her. The collaboration did not happen. In this film Yaqubi answers her through her work, entering into a dialogue with Saab by way of her films and the thoughts they bring up in him. He concentrates on her films from 1973 to 1983, made in Palestine, Lebanon, Egypt, Western Sahara and Iran, where she recorded political oppression and social inequality as well as resistance to them.
