About

Pegah Ahangarani connects her life story with Iran's recent history through five portraits of relatives and people close to her, each representing resistance.

Pegah Ahangarani directs and narrates this documentary, a Czech-Spanish co-production. She builds her own life story alongside Iran's recent history through five portraits of relatives and people close to her, each representing a different form of resistance. The film draws on material from her family's collection, her own video, demonstration footage, press clippings and audio recordings. It spans more than four decades, from the first days of the 1979 revolution to the war that started in 2026.

The chapters focus on her father, her uncle, a teacher she was fond of, a close friend and her newborn daughter. Her father filmed the 1979 revolution on 8mm; she recorded the 2009 protests on her phone; and the film includes recent footage from Tehran streets during the war. The cast includes archive appearances by Jamshid Ahangarani and Manijeh Hekmat.
