About
In 1936, archaeologist Indiana Jones is recruited to find the Ark of the Covenant before the Nazis, while rival archaeologist René Belloq works with them.
In 1936, archaeologist Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) recovers a golden idol from a booby-trapped temple in Peru. When Jones leaves the temple, his rival René Belloq (Paul Freeman) takes the idol from him, and Jones escapes by float plane.
At his university, Jones and curator Marcus Brody (Denholm Elliott) are visited by two Army Intelligence agents, who recruit Jones to find the Ark of the Covenant before Nazi forces do. The Nazis are excavating at Tanis in Egypt, and Hitler is said to believe the Ark can make an army invincible. Jones travels to a bar in Nepal, where he meets Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen), with whom he once had a relationship. Gestapo agent Arnold Toht (Ronald Lacey) and his men arrive to take a medallion from Marion, and a shootout breaks out.
