About
An uptight advertising executive trying to reach Chicago for Thanksgiving is stuck traveling with a talkative shower-curtain-ring salesman after a snowstorm disrupts their plans.
Two days before Thanksgiving, advertising executive Neal Page (Steve Martin) is in New York City and eager to return to his family in Chicago. With a snowstorm threatening after a long business meeting with an indecisive client, he struggles to get a taxi during rush hour. At LaGuardia Airport, where his flight is delayed, he meets Del Griffith (John Candy), a chatty traveling shower-curtain-ring salesman who unknowingly took the cab Neal had tried to secure. Del's friendly manner clashes with Neal's uptight personality. Neal's first-class seat is also reassigned to a cramped coach seat, next to Del.
