About

Nightcrawler is a 2014 American crime thriller written and directed by Dan Gilroy. In Los Angeles, Louis “Lou” Bloom (Jake Gyllenhaal) is a petty thief who is looking for work. One night he sees freelance photojournalists, known as stringers or nightcrawlers, filming the aftermath of a car crash. They sell their footage to local television news stations. Lou buys a camcorder and a police radio scanner and starts filming accidents and crime scenes to sell the material. Nina Romina (Rene Russo), a television news veteran, is impressed by his footage and gives him a chance at her station. Joe Loder (Bill Paxton) is an experienced stringer and a competitor.
