About
A bank teller in Los Angeles has a brief affair with her tennis instructor, who sells drugs and must disappear.
Betty Parrish (Debra Winger), a bank teller in West Los Angeles, has a brief affair with her tennis instructor Mike (Mark Keyloun). He promises to call for a date but never follows through, and Betty does not know that he sells drugs on the side. Mike cannot support his move into the Brentwood neighborhood with his tennis work alone. After encroaching on another dealer's territory, he has to disappear for a while. He later flags Betty down on Sunset Boulevard and explains that he is being chased and that his life is in peril; she drops him at a house high up on Doheny Drive above the Hollywood Hills. Their friendship resumes as a telephone relationship of calls and planned dates that mostly do not happen.
