About
A documentary about the Leica 35mm camera and the photographers who used it to document the world around them.
Reiner Holzemer's documentary Leica – A Century of Vision looks at the invention of the Leica 35mm camera about a hundred years ago and at the change it brought to photography. Photographers could now carry their camera with them and record what happened around them, a development linked to the beginnings of street photography, reportage and photojournalism. The film brings together photographers who appear as themselves, among them Sebastião Salgado, Ralph Gibson, Alex Webb, Steve McCurry, Jane Evelyn Atwood, Sarah M Lee, JR and Greg Williams. It shows how the camera was used to capture history as it unfolded.
