About
In the last days of the Warsaw Uprising, a Polish resistance group under Lieutenant Zadra takes refuge in the city’s sewers.
On 25 September 1944, during the last days of the Warsaw Uprising, Lieutenant Zadra (Wieńczysław Gliński) leads a group of 43 AK soldiers and civilians through the ruins of the isolated Mokotów district to a new position. Among the group are Ensign Korab (Tadeusz Janczar), Sergeant Kula (Tadeusz Gwiazdowski), Lieutenant Mądry (Emil Karewicz), Daisy (Teresa Iżewska), Smukły (Stanisław Mikulski), Michał (Vladek Sheybal) and Halinka (Teresa Berezowska). The composer Michał telephones his wife and child elsewhere in the city. When a German assault is stopped, Korab is wounded while disabling a Goliath tracked mine. Under Zadra's orders, the resistance members take refuge in the sewers beneath the city.
