About
A documentary about trees and plants, human rituals around wood, and the industrial growing of Christmas trees, with botanist Stefano Mancuso.
Holy Wood Dust is a 2026 documentary by Viktor Kossakovsky, made as a co-production of Italy, Spain and Germany. It looks at the lives of trees and plants and at how people relate to the natural world, with Italian botanist Stefano Mancuso taking part. The film turns its attention to wood: from pine forests in the Alps that are disappearing to the yearly industrial growing of millions of Christmas trees. It also shows what happens to fir trees that are cut down each winter, from the rituals around them to the life that goes on inside the wood.
