About
A Hazara family in Pakistan must choose between staying together under growing pressure and leaving separately, unsure if they will meet again.
Hazara Town is a documentary by Khadim Dai about his own family, two decades after they left Afghanistan. They live in the Hazara neighbourhood of Quetta, Pakistan, a walled area where many members of the ethnic group have settled after fleeing their home country. Dai films his two nieces, their mother and their grandparents as violence disrupts daily life in the enclave. The family keeps to routines such as eating together, telling stories and helping the children with homework. As leaving becomes more likely, they face a choice: remain together in Pakistan or depart separately, not knowing if they will ever see one another again. Dai appears as himself; the cast also includes Bibi Hawa, Ramzan Ali, Sedeqa Nasiri, Hussain Nasiri, Machid Nasiri, Mitra Nasiri and Khatima Ahmadi.
