About

A documentary in which blind and partially sighted teenagers at a Paris boarding school use their own cameras to show their everyday world.

For the Moon is a documentary by Éric Baudelaire made with students at the National Institute for Blind Youth in Paris. The teenagers live at a boarding school for blind and partially sighted pupils, and Baudelaire gives them cameras to record their own surroundings. Their footage shows everyday objects, moments of abstraction and scenes from their rooms, while they also play music, make art and take part in sport. Some students speak directly about their lives: Iris describes losing her sight and no longer feeling pain, and Jade explains why she prefers night to day and what she notices with her eyes closed. The film combines material shot by Baudelaire and by the students themselves.
