About
Ren MacCormack moves from Boston to Bomont, where dancing is banned, and challenges Reverend Shaw Moore's rules.
Ren MacCormack (Kenny Wormald) is a teenager from Boston who loves rock music and dancing. After his mother's death, he moves to the small Southern town of Bomont to live with his uncle Wes Warnicker (Ray McKinnon) and aunt Lulu (Kim Dickens). Bomont has strict rules introduced after a tragic car accident: loud music and public dancing are banned, and a curfew applies to young people. At school, Ren befriends Willard Hewitt (Miles Teller), who explains the background of the ban. Ren is also attracted to Ariel Moore (Julianne Hough), the rebellious daughter of Reverend Shaw Moore (Dennis Quaid), the local minister. Ren refuses to accept the restrictions and decides to challenge them.
