About
A Spanish documentary following actor Bàrbara Mestanza as she turns a 2019 sexual assault into a theatre piece and seeks the man who attacked her.
Filthy is a Spanish documentary by Bàrbara Mestanza and Marc Pujolar. In 2019, actor Bàrbara Mestanza was sexually assaulted in a massage salon in Madrid. She froze, paid and did not report it. When she told others about the experience, she kept hearing the question of why she had done nothing; she still has no answer. The assault weighs on many parts of her life. To give her trauma a form, she works it into a theatre piece titled Sucia. During that process she talks with her boyfriend, her mother, friends, colleagues and her lawyer, and she tries to find out who her assailant is and to bring him to court. The film follows this process over several years.
