About
A hard-working young woman and a conceited young man face magical trials in a Russian fairy tale.
Nastenka (Natalya Sedykh) lives with her father (Pavel Pavlenko) and stepmother (Vera Altayskaya) on a farm in a mountain village. The stepmother keeps her busy with household work while spoiling her own daughter Marfusha (Inna Churikova). Both girls are of marriageable age, but the stepmother hides Nastenka so that no one sees her beauty. In another village nearby, Ivan (Eduard Izotov) sets off to see the world. On his way he gets the better of a group of robbers. An old forest man (Georgi Millyar) puts a spell on the conceited young man. Father Frost (Aleksandr Khvylia) is one of the fairy-tale figures the film brings together.
