About
A programmer spends a week at his reclusive CEO's isolated home, where he is asked to assess whether a humanoid robot has genuine consciousness.
Caleb, a programmer at the search engine company Bluebook, is given a week's stay at the isolated mountain home of Nathan, the company's reclusive founder and CEO. Nathan lives there with Kyoko, a servant who does not speak. Once Caleb has signed a non-disclosure agreement, Nathan introduces him to Ava, a humanoid robot with artificial intelligence and a woman's face and body, part of which is visibly mechanical. Ava is kept in her own room. Nathan has arranged for Caleb to take part in a variant of the Turing test: Caleb knows Ava is a machine, and must judge whether she has real thought and consciousness. Domhnall Gleeson plays Caleb, Oscar Isaac is Nathan and Alicia Vikander is Ava.
