About
A human raised among Santa's elves travels to New York to find his biological father.
On Christmas Eve, a baby from an orphanage climbs into Santa's gift sack and is carried to the North Pole. The elves call him Buddy, and Papa Elf adopts him. Buddy grows up believing he is one of Santa's toy-making elves, but in adulthood he learns that he is human.
Papa Elf tells him that his birth parents are Walter Hobbs and Susan Wells, and that Walter works at a publishing company in the Empire State Building and does not know Buddy exists. Buddy leaves for New York to meet his father. At Walter's office, Walter thinks he is delivering a Christmas telegram and sends him away. Will Ferrell plays Buddy, James Caan is Walter, Bob Newhart is Papa Elf and Ed Asner is Santa.
