About

Ten-year-old Elliott hides an alien stranded on Earth and introduces him to his siblings, while government agents search for the visitor.

In a forest near Los Angeles, a group of small aliens gathers plant specimens until U.S. government agents appear. The aliens flee in their ship, accidentally leaving one of their kind behind. The stranded creature takes shelter in a shed behind the home of ten-year-old Elliott (Henry Thomas), who lives in a nearby California suburb with his single mother Mary (Dee Wallace), older brother Michael (Robert MacNaughton) and little sister Gertie (Drew Barrymore). Elliott finds the alien, lures him into the house with a trail of sweets and hides him in his room. He names him E.T., introduces him to Michael and Gertie, and the children keep him secret from their mother. A special bond develops between Elliott and E.T., while government representatives led by scientist Keys (Peter Coyote) search for the visitor.
