About

A documentary about a 13-year-old Bakhtiari nomad in southwestern Iran whose father must catch seven rare partridges to prevent her forced marriage.

In the snowy mountains of southwestern Iran, thirteen-year-old Samaneh stands out in a turquoise headscarf. She is a Bakhtiari nomad who dreams of studying and wants to see Paris. Her childhood is threatened when her father is accused of murder. The victim's tribe demands compensation under an old custom: a marriage as blood money. Her father does not want to give her up, and the only way out is catching seven rare gold partridges to settle the debt. A race against time begins. Filmmaker Marjan Khosravi, who comes from the Bakhtiari community, records how the tribe applies its own laws and how adults decide about Samaneh's future. Samaneh Shahrokhi, Mohammad Shahrokhi and Fariba Sarlak appear as themselves.
