About
A New York detective visiting his estranged wife at a Los Angeles Christmas party slips away when armed men seize her office tower.
On Christmas Eve, New York City police detective John McClane (Bruce Willis) arrives in Los Angeles to see his estranged wife, Holly Gennaro McClane (Bonnie Bedelia), at a holiday party held by her employer, the Nakatomi Corporation. Limousine driver Argyle (De'voreaux White) brings him to Nakatomi Plaza and waits in the garage. During the party, a heavily armed group led by the German criminal Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman), with Karl (Alexander Godunov) among them, seizes the office tower. The guests are taken hostage. McClane slips away, while Argyle remains unaware of what is happening in the building.
