About
A corporate lawyer takes on DuPont after a West Virginia farmer links his cattle's illness to the chemical company.
Robert Bilott (Mark Ruffalo) has just become a partner at a law firm in Cincinnati. Wilbur Tennant (Bill Camp), a farmer and friend of Bilott's grandmother, asks him to look into the unusual medical conditions among his dairy cattle in Parkersburg, West Virginia. Tennant connects the problems to the chemical company DuPont, which bought neighbouring land, and gives Bilott a large case of videotapes.
Bilott visits the farm. DuPont lawyer Phil Donnelly (Victor Garber) says he is unaware of Tennant's concerns. With support from senior partner Tom Terp (Tim Robbins), Bilott files a small suit to obtain information about chemicals dumped at a nearby landfill.
