About
A mother and daughter move between a wedding in France and a commemorative ceremony in Guinea-Bissau, exploring ritual, memory and heritage.
Dao is a docudrama by Alain Gomis that moves between two ceremonies: a wedding in France and a commemorative ceremony in Guinea-Bissau for the bride’s grandfather. At the centre are mother Gloria, played by Katy Correa, and her daughter Nour, played by D’Johé Kouadio. Gloria teaches Nour about their Guinea-Bissaun heritage, while the film explores ritual, memory and culture between African immigrants in France and their native country. The cast also includes Samir Guesmi, Mike Etienne, Nicolas Gomis and Fara Baco Gomis.
