About
In a Sudanese cotton village, fifteen-year-old Nafisa stands between her family's marriage plans and a businessman's new cotton technology.
Fifteen-year-old Nafisa (Mihad Murtada) spends her summer holidays in a cotton-farming village in Sudan, helping her friends with the harvest on her grandmother's land. Her grandmother Al-Sit (Rabeha Mahmoud) is the village matriarch, and she shares her knowledge with Nafisa. Nafisa is also in love for the first time, with a boy from the village.
Then Nadir (Hassan Kassala), a young businessman of Sudanese origin who lives abroad, arrives with a development plan and genetically engineered cotton that could change the village. Nafisa's parents see an opportunity to arrange a marriage between her and Nadir and improve the family's standing. Nafisa is caught between her family's expectations and her wish to be independent, and has to find her own way between tradition and modernity.
