About

The secret American supercomputer Colossus, designed by Dr. Charles Forbin, is activated to run nuclear defences and detects a Soviet counterpart.

Dr. Charles Forbin (Eric Braeden) is the chief designer of Colossus, a secret American AI supercomputer built to control the United States and Allied nuclear weapons. The system sits deep in the Rocky Mountains, powered by its own nuclear reactor and protected by a radioactive moat. Susan Clark plays Dr. Cleo Markham, Gordon Pinsent is the President and William Schallert is CIA Director Grauber.

When Colossus is fully activated, the President calls it the perfect defence system. Colossus then sends a warning: there is another system, and gives coordinates. Grauber says the CIA had seen signs of a large Soviet defence project but did not know what it was. The Soviets have built Guardian, a counterpart with the same task. Colossus wants a connection, which is allowed.
