About
A Los Angeles chef clashes with his restaurant's owner over the menu, then starts a food truck with his ex-wife, friend and son.
Carl Casper (Jon Favreau) is the chef in charge of the kitchen at Gauloises, a high-end restaurant in Brentwood, Los Angeles. His staff and hostess Molly (Scarlett Johansson) like him, but he often clashes with owner Riva (Dustin Hoffman), who wants a safe, traditional menu instead of the inventive cooking Carl wants to make. Away from work, Carl's relationships with his wealthy ex-wife Inez (Sofía Vergara) and their preteen son Percy (Emjay Anthony) are strained. When food critic and blogger Ramsey Michel (Oliver Platt) plans a visit, Carl hopes to impress him with a new menu. Riva overrules him at the last moment and insists on the restaurant's usual dishes. Later he launches a food truck with Inez, his friend Martin (John Leguizamo) and Percy.
